Tour Description:

Through this historic tour of Bogota, you will see and learn of the historic, political, and religious development of the capital. The tour begins with the visit to Plaza de Bolivar which was originally the main square of the city originally situated on "Calle Real" or Royal Street, now 7th Avenue. On the square, you will find the Primada Cathedral built where Gonzalo Jiménez de Quezada founded the city of Santa Fe on August 6th, 1538. Nearby, you will also find the Chapel of Sagrario built at the end of the 17th century, the Main School of Saint Bartholomew one of the oldest in America, National Capitol where the Congress of the Republic is located, the Lievano Building the headquaters of the City Hall of Bogota, and the Palace of Justice home of the Supreme Court.




You cannot miss out on the splendor of la Candelaria, a traditional neighborhood of Bogota which continues to guard and reflect the beauty of its colonial times. Be a witness of the splendor that surrounds this area which has lived through centuries of history and now narrates stories such as the Proclamation of Independence on July 20th, 1810. While visiting, you will feel the attraction that fills the air with magic in every direction you walk. We will visit the Botero Museum which exhibits 123 masterpieces of diverse techniques unique to the Colombian artist, Fernando Botero. His paintings and sculptures of voluptious human figures have gained international recognition. Other 85 masterpieces from artists such as Picasso, Dali, and Monet are also exhibited in this museum in Bogota.



The House of Currency will allow you to tour through a beautiful colonial mansion which now showcases a large collection of coins and medallions. From antique machinery to a collection of art of the time, the House of Currency features historic and contemporary pieces.  It also homes a variety of temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
